"But after working remotely for over 10 years, the administration’s return-to-office requirements meant he’d have to commute over 100 miles a day — a change that became a major factor in his decision to take the DRP in April and end his Forest Service career." federalnewsnetwork.com/retirement/2...
‘In the dark:’ Retiring federal employees face major delays
Federal retirement processing has slowed substantially this year due to DRP. As OPM continues modernizing retirement systems, another application surge looms.

Ditz at the 100 Club tonight; with support from Clt Drp. Should be a riot of a time. How this hasn't sold out yet is baffling.

"tHiS MOVE WiLl hAVE NO EfFEcT On vA OpErAtioNs"

I'm sure this is a totally logical conclusion that won't have horrible consequences since they're only eliminating open positions that totally weren't recently vacated by senior/experienced government servants that took DRP.

A DRP volunteer recently added a few COVID-19 datasets and reports to DataLumos. We want to make sure that this information remains accessible into the future.

We want to keep public data publicly accessible!

This is kinda funny after all the smartest people in OSD got out b/c of DODGE, took the DRP, or got pushed out for ideological reasons.

Staffing is down ~25% at BLS due to DOGE/DRP and the hiring freeze. But this impacts price programs (largely collected by BLS feds) more than jobs.

CPS (household data in the jobs report) is collected by Census field staff. They are down staff too but have been prioritizing economic indicators.
We were already down 25% on staffing at @BLS_gov due to layoffs ahead of shutdown. The effort to catch up means we will not get a clean read on the labor market until December.

Some things to watch for:

October 1 we had 151K federal workers who took earlier buyouts fall from the federal payrolls

The idea that the “fork in the road”/DRP ultimatums led to purely voluntary departures is laughable and Scott Kupor should be embarrassed to make it.

Resign or you’ll be fired/demoted is not voluntary, it’s coerced.

“We were forced out,” said an Agriculture Department employee who accepted the DRP offer in April. “There was no volunteering.”

I could not have said it better.
OPM says 92% of fed departures this year were voluntary. Those who left disagree
Staff only left "the most amazing job I could ever have" under significant pressure, former federal employees said.

NSF

- Forced reorg

- POs down ~ 40% (DRP, most rotators not renewed, retirements)

- Forced move (and we have to pack and clean) to a building with no furniture, little to no conference space for panels, inadequate 🛜, …)

I personally love the boxes they gave us for packing.
“Details matter” 🙃
