I don't know, I vastly prefer this to DnD5e's cadre of supermodels.

Today at 7 PM USA central time, I'll be doing a reading of DnD5e's Bigby Presents : Glory of the Giants, giving my thoughts and feedback as a newer player to TTRPGS throughout the reading. I won't cover statblocks of enemies nor show the book and maps, for I don't want WoTC breaking me like Bane.

Background wise, I follow canon lore pretty closely. When it comes to Freya's magic i've entirely thrown canon out the window. She's loosely based on DnD5E's druid spell list with a big focus on having material components for her spells, despite having and using a magic staff.

PF2e puts a lot more focus on the progression of a class being in the feats, since most of the core mechanic improvements are just raw stat increases and modifier increases. It's not like dnd5e's feats where it takes away from your ability to improve your stats. but yeah I can get behind this take

Something like Predict Weather or Light Candle. Something they could do by mundane means, but better and more reliable. Like some other comments, my mind drifts to one or more of the minor effects of dnd5e's do-everything spells like prestidigitation.

dnd5e's great just roll all 20's like me, ezpz

PF2e is kind of like Fire Emblem to DnD5e's Lord of the Rings in terms of like high fantasy franchises, so if you like a tactical game focused on teamwork rather than "this cool shit I can do" you absolutely should

Alrighty, so, I'm doing things I enjoy this week. Wednesday is me playing critically acclaimed MMORPG FFXIV, Thursday is an off day since I'm giving blood, Friday I'm reading Teatime Adventures' Core Rulebook, Saturday I'm going over DnD5e's new Phandelver book, and Sunday I'm playing Star Ocean 2.

So a #TTRPG project I'm working on is converting DND5E'S Lost Mine of Phandelver to a system called Dungeon Fantasy RPG (DFRPG) - which in turn is powered by GURPS.

I've fallen in love with both, and I want people to give them a shot. So I'm converting what's a familiar adventure for most into it!

DnD5e's combat can often feel...weird because it's not explicit how one should play. Some rules are so clearly written for grids, whilst others are evidently TotM. It's a mess.

And that's not a space that would be acceptable in any other medium, so why's it allowed in TTRPGs?!

wow didn't realize nu-dnd5e's starter set will be using keep on the borderlands.

I still don't really understand the appeal but I guess its just the barest level of what you need an adventure but I feel like in modern dnd writing you're not really getting that benefit anymore.

I feel as though if I say one more nice thing about the FoundryVTT devs I'm going to basically just have to work for them... but seriously, my misgivings about DnD5e's general mechanical state aside, the FVTT folks have made the system work so nicely, especially for homebrewing which I do a LOT of.

there's a lot to criticize about bg3's gameplay and thus, dnd5e's gameplay, but i think these damage types are super, super neat

i love how lightning, thunder and force are all separate elements
