#designtoken
Hey peeps. I'll be one of the speakers at the next #DesignSystems London meetup on 11. November, sharing my thoughts on something I call #DesignToken Interfaces.

It's free, but you need to register to get a ticket as spaces are limited.

See you there?

Comments on a context dilemma with #tokens:
buff.ly/3MUSrrN I feel context specific #designTokens are still the way to go. Repetition in this case is no problem. Ease of use without knowledge of the system should be the primary goal of any #designToken set.

Experimenting with Notebook LLM, pasted a JSON snippet of some #designtoken data and the generated source name surprised me:

"Economic Impact of COVID-19 on the US Economy"

Google AI must be a bit preoccupied with other conversations 🤷‍♂️

Just need an API hook to automate #DesignToken generation and I’ll be all set. But I’m going to use Penpot regardless.

#CSS relative colors simplify color manipulation like opacity, lightness, etc. without pre-processors → buff.ly/ibP8j8Q by @ishadeed.com

There are very interesting #designToken use cases, thinking if a web-only token system could soon use more ad hoc generated colors. 🤔

#designToken operations are not hear yet, but feel like an integral part of design tokens, without which they will not be sustainable in the long run. donnie.damato.design has a neat writeup: https://buff.ly/3BsZ5nd

Personally, I prefer the simple solution: https://buff.ly/4dmoOeg

exciting news: the #designtoken spec is getting native themes and compositions (modes) thanks to @tokensstudio.bsky.social. To celebrate I made a little playground here of what it’s going to look like:
