Dr. Rostum will discuss China’s highly complex use of incorporation structures which have enabled China’s resilience in light of Western efforts at de-risking.

Dutch gov recognizes the drawbacks of derisking private investments for public utilities and thus decides to own/finance the investment itself. Unfortunately it's an investment into ☢️that won't have a future and will only generate a return if heavy (polluting) industry consume the electricity, too.

Isn't that just derisking and open strategic autonomy? After reading the EU’s strategic documents, one could assume that its policy towards China is well defined, and could be summarised as “speak softly and carry the Anti-Coercion Instrument”, but the political reality is of course much messier

One key point for Europe - derisking China ties means focusing on some areas and not others. That is currently not happening, as this is an invite for every interest to make its own case and gum up the economy further. A first test then - what are we not going to do?
