WELL. The partner rescue found the degus like that. We are going to take some of them tomorrow. We ordered a big parrot cage for them as we are not equipped for them, it cost a lot but they need it 💪👊

Today, I said goodbye to the second of my two Degus, Gizmo, who passed away at the vets from Cancer not two months after his brother, Gadget, also died.
I am completely heartbroken right now. They were both 6 years old, having lived a long and happy life with me.

With a craving to eat grass?
Degus have something in their saliva that some of us are allergic to. I've been bitten by lots of different rodents, but a degu bite - however small - is the only one that takes a month to heal. No residual effect of waking up in strange places though. 😂

Przykro mi. Wiem jak to boli. Miałem do 2015 roku koszatniczki (Octodon Degus). Nie sądziłem, że można się tak przywiązać do takich małych zwierzaków. A da się. Jak wszystkie odeszły to bolało dokładnie tak samo jak śmierć psa, kota czy podobnego zwierzaka domowego.

😍 Jaki słodki malutki zwierzak. Od razu przypomina mi się jak moje zwierzaki koszatniczki (Octodon Degus) miały małe. Obserwowanie ich od narodzin do bycia sporą ,,myszką" było wspaniałe.

aber vor 5-10 Jahren war es problemlos möglich, z.B. Degus oder Kanninchen einzeln zu kaufen - ohne Hinweis auf „nicht in Einzelhaltung“.
Von Käfiggrößen mal gar nicht anzufangen.

Löwenzahn für Daisy und sie findet es toll. Die letzten Tage soll sie noch so schön wie möglich haben. Es macht mich traurig, dass ich ihr nicht helfen kann. Sie ist so eine tolle Maus. Und es schmerzt noch mehr, weil sie die letzte von meinen Mädels ist, die meinen Mann noch kannte.

Heute zwischen Frühschicht und Physio setze ich mich auf den Balkon und bereite die neue Holzburg der Degus vor.
Am Wochenende tauschen wir dann den (statisch leicht fragwürdigen) Rest der alten Burg gegen eine neue aus ☺️

Forcing any kind of carnivore/pescetore pet to eat vegan foods is ANIMAL ABUSE, only very few pets are natural vegans, f. ex. bunnies, guinea pigs, degus, chinchillas.
Even hamsters are not vegans, in the wild they also eat insects or worms now and then.

I´m lacto-veggie myself, but I always respected my cats´ needs, I hate militant vegans who force their cats, dogs or ferrets to eat vegan (non-humane) foods.

Am Sonntag, den 5.10., kommt das Land der Tiere nach Hamburg und zwar zum Tierschutzfest des Hamburger Tierschutzvereins! Von 10-16 Uhr erwartet euch im Tierheim Süderstraße ein buntes Programm mit Tombola, Flohmarkt, veganem Essen und Info-Ständen. Wir sind auch dabei!

I love degus!! They have sweet little medium tails, and a few features that I'd love to study. That 90 day gestation is LONG but it looks like they're born precocial so I may not always need to wait 3 whole months...

Whiskers has an interesting little quirk - been watching her for a while and when she's chewing she cant help but raise her back right leg! Her sister Oreo thinks she's weird!
