Long day. I was surprised by a question asked during the recent #DeepMapping Dialogues event: ‘How can we systematically analyse #DeepMaps via e.g. LOD or Network Analysis?’. Experience provided an instinctive answer: ‘You can’t - methods mismatch'. Demonstrating it has taken far more effort! 1/2

The NEH Program that our research team landed in December to use a Deep Mapping process to map the Red River Valley has been canceled. We live in the wealthiest country in the world; we can afford to spend some of our shared wealth supporting the humanities. Right? #neh #humanities #deepmapping

"Rebuilding in a way that is just & inclusive will be a slow process that starts with sharing our memories & perceptions of the city & the way we lived within it ... We have to learn to see the city in the ways that others see it, drawing maps and inviting others to draw with us ..." #deepmapping

Not sure about if podcasts exist - I struggle to maintain focus with just audio so only listen occasionally (current topics and recommended) - but you might enjoy the #DeepMapping work if you're not already!

Shwmae All!

Continuing my quest to share some mapping info with you I thought I'd share our customer success story about the
#DeepMapping project that was produced by @EsriUK a few weeks ago. It's a great read & sums up everything about the project.

#DeepMapping: Great and powerful text by Phoebe Weston in @theguardian.com about how #rewilding reindeer in Karelia, #Finland, cannot be imagined without the region's ancient culture and #folklore associated with these animals and the landscape:

Ghosts of the landscape: how folklore and songs are key to rewilding Finland’s reindeer
For ecologists restoring the vast bogs of remote Karelia, wild reindeer are not just part of the environment but entwined with the ancient culture of the boreal forests
