1. A French cheesemonger tried to suss out what intensity & type of stinkiness I could handle by asking me if I preferred fromage comme les pièds, comme le vagine, or comme la morte. I stuck with feet & crotch, & to this day if I encounter a stinky cheese I classify it according to his system.
do you ever have things that someone has said to you that live forever in your head (non-serious edition)? some older boomer hippie guy said “hahmmus gives you fahts” to me 26 years ago at a free fridge and i think of it every fucking single time i buy hummus to this day.

Remember when I went to the cheesemonger earlier and they convinced me to get four cheeses, even though I deliberately said no please no I could not possibly have four cheeses. I absolutely totally said that. Oh well, now four cheeses for tomorrow night.

I love my butcher, the farmers market, cheesemonger, and fishmonger. I love my co-op and local farms. I love the cottage baker down the street. I love my local olive oil and vinegar sellers. I love the tea house and coffee roasters. People who are passionate about delivering quality goods/services.
