The Macallan distillery just anouced new expression of 46 yo single malt #whisky. It combines two sherry seasoned oak casks from 1979. Coming soon. Price undisclosed.

Tonight’s #worldseries dram is the new Jamaica Edition from The Glenlivet. Partially finished in Jamaican rum casks, and the rum influence is clear on the palate.

Arran distillery released new expression. Signature Series Vol 3 - Duero Discovery is an 12 yo unpeated single malt #whisky selected and signed by Distillery Manager Stewart Bowman. Matured in red wine casks. Price around £71.

Looks and sounds awesome. I have an unopened bottle of the Chronicles Edition 1 waiting for a special occasion. Was lucky to try a sample on their tour a few years ago and it really blew me away. It seems they save their best casks for these bottlings.

I'm increasingly a fan of the newer distilleries & their expressions - especially Ardnahoe & Kilchoman on Islay (ok Kilchoman is 20 years old, but relatively...), Isle of Raasay, & I've heard very good things about Ardnamurchan too. A much needed breath of fresh air

It's a #thirstythursday with Two Stacks #IrishWhiskey. This is bottled at 43% ABV and is a marriage of 50% single grain aged in bourbon barrels and 50% single grain aged in Oloroso Sherry casks.

I'm not sure which is more pathetic: the likelihood that this is some rebottled, repackaged NAS swill, or the slim possibility that they've planned this dumb gag for several years, rubbing their hands over the casks while they imagine "owning some libs" in 3+ years.

Found a sample of the refill ex-bourbon 10 year old. Both have similarities, but the 8 year old from first-fill casks dials up the fruit and just edges it in my opinion. Both excellent.

Swindon beer festival yesterday: lovely, as ever. With so many local branches cancelling/reducing their annual fests (I have thoughts about how national CAMRA are coping with... stuff) it's impressive that Swindon put on such a big event in such a great location (Steam Museum).

Got this sample from a colleague, and it is a wonderful 15 year old Macduff matured in PX sherry casks. 52,5% ABV is what i expect cask strength.
That color is so dark at is more look like a dark brown chestnut and the influense from those sherry buts is a true sherry bomb 🥃🎉
