It was really convenient that all of those wetlands, bogs, and forests naturally developed as a grid for people to lay down streets along.

Well we should honour the bronze age more by throwing shitheads into bogs
We don’t get nearly enough Bronze Age Collapse humor. 🗃️
The Late Bronze Age collapse plunged the Eastern Mediterranean and Near East into a period of chaos and starvation, but 300 hundred years later, the region emerged stronger and more prosperous than ever. Could the same thing happen here in the United States?

Donegal would also be a perfect location. Miles and miles of desolate midge-infested bogs full of bloody sheep. Imagine how beautiful they would be - full of native trees supporting flourishing ecosystems with the reintroduction of wolves and other native sepcies.

Tech is not one of Hinako's strong suits.
She's fine, she *can* be taught and she isn't allergic to it, but she didn't grow up around it and she's mostly winged it since.
Hinako feels excess tech bogs her down, though she did accept an electrope cup along with her linkpearl for certain days.

A Boris Johnson impersonator is found drowned in cider. Suspicion falls on Woking’s tapestry weaver, angry that an alarming decline of peat bogs might threaten to expose Threads as just a planetary-scale panopticon.

Glorious. I genuinely think peat bogs are under-appreciated in their beauty

Daily Doodle 093 "Fire"

Corpse Fires.

"If you're for some reason lost, out in the northern bogs and mires of Daudr Hond, you might start seeing specks of firelight. Emboldened by the prospect of a homestead, you make your way, deeper into the mist.

Cute emo boy at the bar. We’ve shared some furtive looks.

Then I come out of the bogs, and he’s eating the face off some twink.

Just my luck as ever

A good rule of thumb for all carnivorous plants is they expect neglect.

By this I mean don't give them nutritious soil (no fertilizer) or tap water (they need distilled, very low ppm).

Carnivorous plants grow in sandy bogs and are used to low environmental nutrients (that's why they eat bugs).

Boreal forest and black spruce fens and bogs. Probably partly why it's underserved is blackflies and that it's difficult to get around in. Grade school quicksand anxiety has been topical lately and meanwhile peat bogs are just out there waiting to bloop a camera operator. But those blackflies...

I LOVED The Bog Wife & Blood on Her Tongue. This bog-body book is quieter, and about smart young women navigating complex dynamics.
2 timelines: A Druid Priestess makes friends & enemies; a scientist examines an ancient body in a town fighting over whether to raze its bogs. #books #booksky

Yes! They also help with flooding because they absorb water, like marshes and swamps. Some places are trying to save their bogs now that we know more about how important they are.
