A lot of games journalists went through an awful time during GG, and I felt like a split emerged: Journos who realize it’s a culture war and want to fight, and journos who don’t want to rock the boat. The latter prevailed, and they tend to cover “safe” topics that won’t get mentioned by Asmongold
Tbh I think it's mainly a long term sideeffect of gamergate - that whole thing really took the teeth out of the industry and we're left with a shell of an industry that's been scared to report anything that would potentially upset the capitalists that hold their purse strings ever since
