#artmaking
a little fascinated by the notion of looking at your art and going "ah shit it wasn't made by me". split off an artmaking headmate for the purpose of denying yourself the right to appreciate your art

I have many thoughts about starting hormonal transition in my 30s, being a pandemic trans, being trans at the beginning of an apocalypse (2026 is the artmaking year)

But a main one is it's all worth it to be yourself, your fullest self, unapologetically.
Oh hey today is my four year anniversary of starting HRT 💉☺️

“Write what you know.”

Instead, write to learn. Artmaking is an epistemological process.

Write, so that you may know.
what is your least favorite piece of writing advice and why? 👀

i've worried i should tone down how i talk artmaking bcuz it feels like challenging the 'art is pain' idea would come off boastful "well not rough for *me*" but it's not like that, it's just 'this process genuinely feels amazing, i want to share how happy doing this makes me'

Hah 😂! I think 3D printing is amazing technology, including for artists. I’m super old-school in my artmaking, but I love seeing what can be done by artists using more modern tech as well.

ah thank you, + a part of me forgot how wonderful winter is for artmaking (slowly recovering from a season of artistic burnout)

i spent all of today making art, + some of the artmaking was out of the apartment alongside others i adore, and it was incredibly nourishing (both the art + the community)

My boyfriend's favorite game of this year. Sigh. You could have just made something yourself, but you cheated yourself out of an artmaking experience. The art will always suffer for use of gen. A.I. though it would still be an evil use of technology if it didn't. The environments often looked bad.

very uncertain

at present, the market favors the plagiarism machine, which is toxic to all artmaking industries

i do believe journalism can be a counterweight, but only if it is fearless, relentless—and i think the message across all self-respecting publications should be "Any AI is too much."

"...we—the artists and institutions—forget that artmaking goes hand in hand with making community," writes Jesus A. Reyes for @zocalopublicsquare.bsky.social.

"It is our responsibility to do more than just set out the welcome mat."

Playing around in PS this morning. The #solstice is a time for making #goals and #newyearsresolutions, and here are some of mine… non-word-vomit-version. I even organized them too! (Yay, gold stars all around 😜)

What are some of your #artmaking goals for 2026?

I believe it. Artmaking is such a potent form of catharsis, it makes sense that artists are largely people with things they need to exorcise or process.

maybe there’s some reckoning with human creativity bc we do a lot of stealing ideas. that’s so much of what art is, but there’s a lot of transformation and invention and intention that makes artmaking meaningful. it can be employed for commercial appeal and sameness but also infinite other things
December 18, 2025 at 8:23 PM
like if folks are seeking 'creative' jobs, then why outsource the 'creating' part?

and imo, i just think it harms the artwork as a whole when you let a formula drive your artmaking. how will actually new and imaginative ideas emerge? it's wack
December 18, 2025 at 7:00 PM
anyway I think everyone should like have nice hobbies they like but the act of image-making really is not inherently tied to artmaking any more than an email is a poem because it has words

Just add. Add cement, add feet add plant, add art. The #concrete #planter is another good seller in the shop. I sold one so I made another, plus I wanted to show off the finished print from Monday. #art #sculpture #artmaking #printmaking #print #shoplocal #makersgonnamake woot.

in the meantime i'm also trying to remedy my struggle with disdain and disinterest (in part due to the severity of the depression) with artmaking, so i hope my small attempts at doodling or doing short spurts of personal work daily will be received well 🙏 it has helped in little ways already

i think theres a state of like hedonist englightenment where u realize that none of the big human things actually matter and we are all just animals chasing the good chemicals and all u need is love and freindship, good food, a little drugs now and then, and some artmaking materials for a good life

you have to believe that love pays off in your personal practice even if it's unquantifiable. love, moreso than skill, does not generate an easily defined product. the love you put into something is not wasted even if you cannot see immediately "where it went." love artmaking for the sake of art.
