You’re talking about my childhood- I got to live thru the Oil Bust in Oklahoma -and it was no picnic in the 1970s either. Half an acre garden, we had fruit trees- I snapped greenbeans for hours- canned apricots. at the rate 🍊💩💼 is going we, are going to need to reuse jars that held commercial foods

They also do a Turkish breakfast of "pastirma, borek, boiled egg, olives, tomato, cucumber, Turkish cheese, bread, natural yoghurt, honey, Turkish jams, walnuts, apricots & halva" which I'll have to try some time but the shakshuka & fried breakfasts are both excellent (and cheaper) so may be a while

It is 😋! I make a flavor base of sautéed onions and garlic in extra-virgin olive oil. Add rice (I like a blend of types with some wild) and spices, dried fruit (chopped apricots, raisins and cranberries), and chicken broth. Before serving, add toasted almonds and pecans.

Sounds pretty much like our bublanina. That's a sponge cake with fruits mixed into it. Cherries, plums, currants, and apricots are traditional, but you can use just about anything.
