It looks wonderful, and it will be a lot of fun, but it is disappointing that the Tank won’t be available for any other work for an entire year. The AGNSW budget problems are real.

In an act of pettiness against an institution beloved by their predecessors the Minns government has slashed funding to AGNSW. The gallery believes in long-term thinking. Their summer free exhibition, Mike Hewson’s The Key’s Under the Mat, is a guarantee of love for the arts by the next generation

Quote from German sculptor-photographer Thomas Demand:
“ I think we’re going to come back to the idea that a prompt cannot produce a picture, and the whole point of art, an artistic picture, is that you cannot describe it with words.”

His latest exhibition, The Object Lesson, is at the AGNSW.

AGNSW has a new wing, largely funded by donations, but actively supported by the previous government. Slashing funding & sacking staff looks like an inept politically partisan decision by Chris Minns & John Graham #nswpol

The stop work on Wednesday comes as the Minns government authorised a $9 million increase to the staff budget for the Powerhouse Museum.
