6850 Extremely Wide USB must be XFM Shortwave, acknowledging as many as 4 different stations relaying him: on 5175, 6285, 6850 & 6960 kHz. Yes, confirmed, giving email [email protected], then reading listener messages, likely from HF Underground #shortwave #pirate #Halloween

Finding out that Joe Thomas and James Buckley also listen to the Ricky Gervais show and the old XFM shows on repeat fills me with happiness 😅

Someone mentioned Blind Date in work and I automatically did my impression of Adam Buxton’s Cilla Black which is pretty niche if you didn’t listen to XFM or 6 Music about 16 years ago.

is it bad that my first thought was how this would make the most incredible monkey news segment on the XFM radio show, and I'd do anything to hear karl pilkington's thoughts about this

A customer in Melbourne told me today that I sound like Christian O'Connell 😂

I used to listen to his breakfast show on XFM in London about 20 years ago, and heard he had moved to Australia a few years ago

A 20-second UK radio commercial for #TheCure 's single 'Taking Off', which aired on XFM in 2004. The first few seconds may be missing.

Speaking of back in the day, and popping up on random episodes of things, here's the satan name involved in Adam Buxton and Joe Cornish's Xfm radio phone-in game, 'Real or Rubs':

bsky.app/profile/worr...
"worriedaboutsatan... that's a real band" - just uploading this for posterity, but back in 2006, the band got a nice little shout out on the Adam and Joe Xfm show during a segment called 'real or rubs?' where they'd ask people to ring in and guess whether band names were real or not.

A problem I kept running up against with this record is the XFM only has 6 voice polyphony, and programming everything on one machine meant no multitracking. I had to borrow some old tricks from vgm/chiptune composers to get everything sounding big and layered the way I wanted. It worked.

By way of comparison, seem to remember XFM playing the Kula Shaker cover of Deep Purple's "Hush" in tribute to the passing of John Lord back in the day (it was on the office radio at the time)

Honestly, I adore that album. Saw some of it played at the XFM launch, as I am of that certain age.

I adore copper blue and blaster. They were great at the xfm Finsbury Park gig. But very dull at Cardiff Uni on the FUEL tour

#OTD #OnThisDay 1) the brilliant but underrated grant lee buffalo 2) this would've been one of xfm's one off gigs during their 30 day licence periods - i suspect the cure played cos they did most of them :)
