The Strid Wood in Wharfedale, North Yorkshire, last week, had a superabundance of shrooms - most of them I can’t ID to species (they require breaking bits off, or sniffing) so am sticking with genus for most. Ink and watercolour drawings in my sketchbook.

I agreed with you, but when I looked up Dowber Gill Passage to find out where it was, I found this report from Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue that emphasises that it wasn’t flooding that caused these experienced Cavers to become trapped, but the technical nature of their route, and

This lovely #YorkshireDales walk in #Wharfedale gives great views extending along Wharfedale itself, Langstrothdale and across to Buckden Pike. After an initial climb most of the walk is fairly level and easy to follow. Details at www.happyhiker.co.uk/MyWalks/York...

We're kick starting the week with this breath-taking view of Upper Wharfedale, looking towards Cray.

💧 Cray is home to the Cray Waterfalls, a series of stunning cascades tucked into the hillside.

A scenic countryside landscape with rolling green hills and patchwork fields divided by hedgerows and stone walls. In the foreground, there is a dry stone wall topped with wire fencing, with tall grasses and small purple wildflowers growing beside it. This #YorkshireDales walk from Kettlewell takes you up on to the fells above Starbotton and then down to Starbotton and back along the river. In my opinion, this is one of the most attractive areas of Wharfedale. Easily extended to cover Buckden Pike. See www.happyhiker.co.uk/MyWalks/York...
