#Weyward
Education in Malice was not a win for me. I enjoyed a lot of it, but I feel like it failed at the premise of being a Carmilla retelling AND at selling a truly sinister teacher/student relationship. It was good but I was not /great/.

Onward!

I have four that I could happily read next.

Not sure if Weyward would be considered an easy vacation read, but it's filling the warm, clear days and violently stormy nights.

THE SIRENS by Emilia Hart is a dual timeline story of abused/misused women and Celtic myths of mermaids. This is another absorbing tale from the author of WEYWARD. And look at that gorgeous cover! #ewgc @macmillanlib.bsky.social @libro.fm

I enjoyed it, but I will say I wish the sirens showed up a lot sooner. To be honest, I think I liked it more bc I liked her first one Weyward a lot. Maybe it’s bleeding over to this one.

Photo from today when I learned that from putting them in a kreisel together.

Book 57 of 2025: Weyward by Emilia Hart. 3 women, united across centuries by their "witchiness", find a way to make good lives for themselves largely in despite of the men in their lives. I listened to the audiobook version with different narrators for each woman, and it was done well.
