China has signed 23 agreements, is investing in Egypt and ground stations in other African countries that gives them surveillance capability, Courtney says. It's also announced $50 billion in investment and loans for African countries. The US shows little interest, and less now, she says. #uksc2025

Paul Bate, CEO of the UK Space Agency, went to the University of Manchester and says that everything he learned about quantum physics and kebabs was from here, and that this conference is the hottest ticket since Oasis (which is a local band and performing down the street). #uksc2025

She's concerned, for example, that there's not as much investment in studying space weather in Africa, or in space situational awareness. China has built two telescopes with SSA capability, she says. The UK doesn't have the money China does but it doesn't take that much, she says. #uksc2025

Courtney says the King is very interested in space sustainability and with preserving Commonwealth relationships. But she is concerned that they haven't maintained the pipeline to grow talent and interest and for aid to help solve problems in other countries. #uksc2025
