A package of beef tritip roasts that cost $35 in July now costs $95 in CA.

It's my grandfather's pepper steak recipe - which is tritip, bell peppers and mushrooms simmered together for an hour and then served over rice.
He gave me the recipe on Friday, but I worked out what parts of it were "missing" (a crucial step) thanks to my mom.

I started smoking a few years ago. Tried a few different things - whole chicken, tritip, etc. When I tried the pastrami, it came out so good, that’s basically all I smoke now. Every month or two, 15-20 pounds of brisket, brined and smoked for pastrami.

Not hating the cut, it’s delicious. But its lore about being a rich persons meal is based on the cost vs quantity and the French name. Your average worker can’t explain why it’s so good.

Big thanks to the San Benito Dems for hosting me yesterday. Got to fire up the crowd (remember, we have to fight if we want to win) and had a chance to talk with the current CA Speaker of the Assembly, Robert Rivas, which was cool (that’s his district).
