I have been thinking about this a lot lately too . for postgres I wanted to use partitions but I came across timescaledb as an extension hypertables are treating me very well and columnar compression is incredible. basically every xrpc query you want to make can play friendly with rkey chunking

Users also want PGlite to support key extensions like PostGIS and TimescaleDB. This would unlock powerful new use cases, bringing advanced geospatial and time-series capabilities to its lightweight form. #PostgreSQL 5/6

The timescaledb license would be great if they did sell the product, but given they don't unless you make very specific choices... Guess I'll go fuck myself with my DigitalOcean managed DB

I like using MongoDB. The Rust driver is solid, and the shell is easy to use since it's a mock JS interpreter. Our TimescaleDB SQL queries look so weird due to the amount of data we have to insert, so we have a super-long string that formats everything into the final SQL insert statement.

I did a Rust 'app' that is basically a MongoDB connector that is supposed to come in and replace the same TimescaleDB Rust connector. So now we are waiting to create some 300 simulated devices that write once every 20ms (each device) and see how hard MongoDB can handle it

It also ships with:

- Versioned Postgres docs (15-18)
- TimescaleDB docs
- Hybrid search for context retrieval
- Auto-discovered templates based on intent

You just ask. It does the right thing.
