A thin poplar stem- maybe the thickness of your little finger- comes into the frame from lower right. It's lit from behind and a bit blurry so we don't see a lot of detail, but it is roughly greyish with darker spots especially around leaf/stem scars and twigs and knobby joints. It angles toward the left, with several twigs going several directions. Just above centre, a dark twig arcs gently out to left, down slightly then up. Some bits of ice hang below the twig, including a large drop shaped bit in the middle with smaller bits to each side (almost bulls head shape!). This ice is lit from behind and glowing. The background is blurred with a few vague linear bands of dark and light and circles the camera lens has made of bits of light. A white vignette and blur has been applied to top and bottom of the image, and I've added a faint violet tint across the centre of the image.

The end of a single thin poplar branch enters the frame from lower right. It's tip and a couple of small side twigs end in pointed buds which will bear next year's leaves. The branch is rather dark with a hint of red-brown at twig ends, and holds a bit of fresh snow in tiny piles of crystals here and there. A single leaf dangles in the centre, grey-brown with hints of reddish around the edges and darker blotches throughout, giving it an overall dark appearance. The weak mostly overcast light comes from behind. Background is blurred snowy ground and dry vegetation of red-brown-grey and snow white twigs, blurred to abstraction. The edges/corners of the image have a dark vignette effect applied to remind us of the darkness of the season.
