A little #trafficSafety humour by Jennifer Musselman of Kittelson & Associates at #TRBAM

Who says engineers can’t be fun? (Other than my kids?)

I'm at a #TRBAM session about car tech (AVs and ADAS).

@iihs-hldi.bsky.social head of research says ADAS leads people to drive more dangerously, negating its crash avoidance potential.

A reminder that safety tech can look a lot less useful when you consider human behavior changes.

For those who work on equity issues in transportation, this was a disruptive year, but researchers and advocates aren't going anywhere. Tomorrow theyll prove it.

My new @usa.streetsblog.org piece reflecting on #TRBAM week and the present political moment.

Attending a #TRBAM workshop today on "transforming the rider experience with innovation." I'm hoping we get into a meaty discussion of what innovation and tech can solve for -- as well as when tech and AI are just window dressing, or more sinisterly, pull resources away from the real solutions.

If you are in DC for TRB & like to get up early, I'll be presenting in what should be a great session with some great folks tomorrow at 8 AM.

The session is "Measuring Success on Multimodal Streets" & will be in the Convention Center, room 145A.

My talk is called "Counting What Counts"...

Catch these transportation equity sessions on Thursday!

(I'm presenting on my #TransOnTransit findings at Crossroads in the morning instead of TRBAM).
I just looked at the schedule for Thursday's Crossroads transportation equity convening. It's gonna be impossible to pick which sessions I'll go to because I want to go to everything.

The data is really interesting and I wish we had detailed survey data for every route, but you need to be really careful shoehorning sweeping policy conclusions into a limited research project. It also helps to be aware of the longstanding political economy of transit in the US. #TRBAM
