"The rooms were so dark he could barely make out the shape of the furniture, so when he was compelled to look at the snow outside, it blinded him—it was as if a curtain of tulle had fallen before his eyes, as if he had retreated into the silence of snow to escape..."

He was lost in starlit contemplation of a passage...where a Chinese proverb wondered how it is that a bird knows her purpose in life, how & where & when to build her nest, but man...wisest among all creatures, doesn't know his purpose in life.

Belief by #BiancaStone

The briar patch where I was born is flowering.
A stone path leads to the brook.

Hummingbirds find the greensward’s stargazer lilies,
their sepals open like the intimate eye of belief.

Yes, I would.
I would repeat this life.

“Blaming a victim helps people maintain their belief in a just world where they are unlikely to suffer a similar fate.”

RT @britt

... This is so true. Not even a theory, just straight up difficult truth about humanity.

Doing some night time reading for my #Psychology course and the textbook is discussing human behavior and attributions. I read the following sentence and immediately had to pause. Ugh. This is so true. Not even a theory, just straight up difficult truth about humanity. “Blaming a victim helps people maintain their belief in a just world where they are unlikely to suffer a similar fate.” … that’s definitely a writing prompt for me. Noted.

Love when the opening sentence of a book sets a tone/close reading right away. Not sure yet if that’s the case but I’m thinking it is.
