if you bought simlife in 1992 this is what came in the box.
two floppy disks containing probably around 5 megs of game, a quick start guide (installation instructions, a list of keyboard inputs, and maybe a short description of the game, a blank 20 page journal, registration card, and an ad....

While many other Maxis games would build on the concept as well. Simfarm, Simlife, Simpark, Simgolf, Sid Meier's SimGolf, and so forth.
(SimTower as well, though Maxis didn't develop that game; they just published it outside of Japan)

I uploaded the entire 1993 "SimClassics" compilation for Commodore Amiga to archive.org. The original SimCity Classic, SimAnt and SimLife as KryoFlux and ADF disk images, including 300dpi scans of all 9 diskettes.

This one was SimLife.
And yeah, older Sims versions were so much more playable. I got 4 for cheap early in the pandemic, not realizing how much they want you to buy to flesh it out. Downloaded a cute family but I hadn't bought their expansion pack, so they were just in this empty house?? Blah

SimCity, SimAnt, SimTower, SimCopter, SimLife, all weird but incredible installments. There was even synergy between them. I remember desperately trying to race across my teeming SimCity metropolis, saving human-shaped pixels in my juiced up SimCopter chopper

Been talking a lot recently about SimLife for various reasons, and thought I'd load it up. Surprise, it isn't available to purchase anywhere legally. Shoutout to everyone working to preserve the games and software corporations are happy to let vanish from the world.
