Around 15 people on a picket line outside Ealing Council with signs that read "workload overload - fix it!", "overworked, undervalued", "we're on strike - ask us why!", and "quality support needs quality staffing!". We are specialist advisory teachers who support children and young people with hearing and vision needs. As part of our outreach work for Ealing Council, we visit schools and families across the borough to offer specialist advice and support. Why are we striking? We are currently taking part in strike action over issues that are affecting the day-to-day running and long-term sustainability of our service. Our concerns are over: the Council's unacceptable management style; serious concerns about the sustainability of the service which impacts the quality of service provided to children and young people (CYP); failure to recognise and compensate us foradditional responsibilities; our unacceptable workload and staffing capacity. Our commitment remains firmly with the children and young people we support, and we are taking this action to help safeguard the quality and continuity of that support for the future.
