A clean, reliable Quarkus development setup using WSL2, SDKMAN, and Podman

Running Quarkus on Windows does not have to be painful.
I wrote down the setup I actually recommend:
WSL2 for dev, SDKMAN for Java, Podman for containers.

You Don’t Need NVM, SDKMan, Pyenv, Rustup, Homebrew or even Nix. Try Mise Instead.

I suspect many developers use SDKMan to install a specific JDK version and never bother to install the updates as they come out (every 3 months). If you must use SDKMan (or install manually?!), set a reminder to install updates.
Or just use a package manager that gets you the update versions. 😉

びっくりした。SDKMANを会社のMacに入れたら~/.bashrcが読まれなくなっていろんな環境変数が全部効かなくなってなんだろうと思ってあれこれ調べたところ、 ~/.bash_profile が作られていてそこに
source "$HOME/.sdkman/bin/sdkman-init.sh"
とかが書かれててそれを ~/.bashrc に移して ~/.bash_profile を消したら直った。よく読んでないけど、グローバルなbashの設定に 「~/.bash_profile があったら ~/.bashrc を読まない」、みたいな設定でもあるんだろうか。

@sdkman any idea why 25-tem is the suggested default for macOS ARM but isn't included in the canidate list?

WSLからsdkman!実行したらcURLが"URL using bad/illegal format or missing URL"ってエラー吐いてJavaインストールできなかったんだけど、いろいろ調べてる間にWSL shell自体がクラッシュ（コード 1で終了）してEnterで再起動、その後もう一回試したら問題なく動いた。…うーん、何だったんだ？
