Weird kinda humour:

HERUMFURZEN

There is a second, much longer take on the epic cycle of Philip José Farmer; 188 minutes now.

Did somebody read the Riverworld series and miss the point?

I think so. We can add it to the list of shit they took the wrong message from.

1984
Animal Farm
Fahrenheit 451
Starship Troopers
The Handmaid’s Tale
Riverworld
This is exactly what I thought reading Nate Silver's ramblings about "the River" and how it's full of "risk takers" like venture capitalists and crypto billionaires

So much of what I love started in this building. I became a fan of the pulps as a kid, after reading Philip Jose Farmer's "biography" of Doc Savage. I had started reading his books, I want to say I started with Riverworld stuff, and then I found the Doc Savage book at the library.

I'm having a surprisngly good run so far this year thanks to Asimov and Neil Jones. Your feeling towards Riverworld and Solaris seems echoed by many others, so I might well just scrub those off my own list

25% of everyone who has ever lived was Chinese.
Riverworld would have everyone from Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Outlaws of the Water Margin, and the Five-Classics. And ideograms were relatively consistent. I think about that more than Tom Mix. 🤓

A versatile author, indeed!

I vaguely recall there was a TV version of Riverworld, but I've never seen it. Was it any good?

The two shared world anthologies, TALES OF RIVERWORLD and QUEST TO RIVERWORLD, feature stories by Philip José Farmer: "Crossing the Dark River," A Hole in Hell," Up the Bright River," and "Coda," as well as nineteen exciting tales by other well-known writers.

Thank you. I might seek this out. I've been on-and-off curious about Burton & then Speke since Philip José Farmer stuck Burton in the Riverworld series.

Happy birthday to Italian-Canadian actress and comedian Chiara Zanni, born today in 1978. Along with numerous voice-work credits, Zanni is known in fandom for roles in Night Man, X-Men, Supernatural, Stargate Atlantis, and Riverworld. #ChiaraZanni

One of the greatest Science Fiction and Fantasy writers was #BOTD in 1918, Philip José Farmer. He created both "The World of Tiers" and "Riverworld"
If you haven't read any of them I highly recommend them.

i've listened to a ton of old game music over the years and i can say definitively: Stéphane Picq was easily one of the best to ever do it. Dune, Lost Eden, Commander Blood, KGB, Riverworld - all amazing soundtracks. there's no one like him. a huge loss www.youtube.com/watch?v=eFlv...

Ben Babbitt’s work on the Kentucky Route Zero soundtrack should impress on anyone the unique power and potential of ambient music. A track like “Julian” or “Riverworld” is as critical to the game articulating itself as the dialogue and art design; it’s not just atmosphere, it’s story. it’s text.

You could get through the entire 5-book Riverworld series by Philip Jose Farmer pretty quickly if you're dedicated. Each one is 200-500 pages and the storyline is compelling.
