Silk tassel bush (Garrya elliptica) blooming in the park. Although it doesn't grow natively quite this far north, it thrives in our climate.

Yesterday I forgot why I didn't go to the parks this past week, and saw all the fallen branches and trees covering the trails. The saws were buzzing in the background. The main trail was clear, thanks Seattle Parks!

The fall colors are just not there, I moan and groan. It's almost November! Then I come on a patch of vine maples!

It's been really dry this summer, even with a few days of rain here and there. The peafruit rose (Rosa pisocarpa) hips are looking parched.

Today I Saw 6/27/25

Raven and Cooper's Hawk. There was a large gathering of crows making a fuss about Ravens on their turf. The Cooper's swooped in, broke up the party and scattered the crows. Maybe it was protecting kiddos?
