Punjab News: रिश्वत लेने के आरोप में फंसे डीआईजी रोपड़ हरचरण सिंह भुल्लर को पंजाब सरकार ने निलंबित कर दिया है। गृह विभाग ने शनिवार को यह आदेश जारी किया। आदेश में कहा गया कि उनकी गिरफ्तारी के अड़तालीस घंटे बीत जाने के बाद अखिल भारतीय सेवा नियम के तहत उन्हें स्वत: प्रभाव से निलंबित माना जाएगा। सीबीआई ने एचएस भुल्लर को फतेहगढ़ साहिब के कबाड़ व्यापारी आकाश भट्टा की शिकायत पर गिरफ्तार किया था।

MUMBAI: Punjab National Bank (PNB) reported a 14.0% year-on-year rise in net profit to Rs 4,904 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, 2025, driven by higher total income and improvements in asset quality. The state-owned lender’s operating profit rose 5.5% to Rs 7,227 crore.Total income grew 5.1% to Rs 36,214 crore, while net interest income fell 0.5% to Rs 10,469 crore as interest expenses rose 10.6% to Rs 21,403 crore, outpacing the 6.7% growth in interest income. The global net interest margin narrowed to 2.60% from 2.92%, but the annualised return on assets improved to 1.05% from 1.02%.

Public sector bank Punjab National Bank announced its Q2FY26 results on Saturday, posting a 14% YoY increase in its profit after tax (PAT) at Rs 4,904 crore, while its net interest income (NII) dipped by 0.45% YoY. The NII stood at Rs 10,469 crore at the end of the second quarter of FY26, which is down from Rs 10,517 crore in the same period last year.
