In the 1980s it was manuals for computer printers that had the reputation for bad ‘Chinglish’ translations. How is it that 45y later, a company will charge >$60k a pop for a potentially deadly device, and not even engage a native language proofreader to ensure following the (e)manual won’t kill you?

This photo of my desk means I'm open for #kidlit developmental editing and career/submissions consulting--and possibly other things too (just ask!). I'm not a copyeditor or proofreader and usually do line-editing only as part of a larger project.

Biggest shout out to my beloved @grumpygoblingirl.bsky.social for being my hype man and proofreader 🥺💖💖💖 I swear I’d be lost without her 🥰💖💖💖💖💖
If somehow you’re NOT go follow her she’s as gorgeous on the outside as she is on the inside.
And if you already do follow her go give her a tip 💖

could be cross-referencing medical histories and flagging potentially dangerous drugs as a secondary safety-check,
used for DNA sequencing...
hell, just a better proofreader/spellcheck/grammar-check program.
But, nope, we get The Slop Reality.

Ex-legal proofreader nitpicker here. In over 50 years of hometown Post readership, I do not recall seeing a misspelled headline in it. More oligarch enshittification.

We checked with our proofreader.
The correct pluralization for landlubber's (which is possessive singular) would be landlubbers' if you are referring to the plural possessive, or simply landlubbers if you are referring to the simple plural.
Unless it’s future perfect, then the rules change.

My first novel is currently being proofread and finalized. However, I have a short story I'd like to publish fairly soon.
Is anyone interested in being a proofreader/editor for a ~40-page story? Please let me know.
