Just thinking about how instead of improving upon the functionality of the digital keyboard for typing everyone leaned into predictive text and voice to text leaving the keyboard to continue sucking shit.

Curious that predictive algorithms are used for criminalization but not prevention of crime at the source.
We could identify people who need food or rent assistance!
But somehow there is never enough money for helping people, but always enough to lock them up. #PredictivePolicing #AI

I have stood up vector databases to give AI models a semblance of memory. I know what they do, I understand how they operate. A predictive model cannot innovate. That's not what they do.

What is predictive policing? Police use predictive policing tools and practices to predict who will commit crime and where crime will occur. These tools reinforce racist police practices by using data to justify policing of Black, brown, poor, and other criminalized communities. 🧵

According to a presentation given by the Durham Police Department, the agency wants Peregrine because its "core strength lies in its predictive analytics to forecast crime hotspots and patterns." This is predictive policing. 🧵

Data source and code are of course freely available. And hopefully a useful source for future predictive models in aquatic stress ecology.

Operators feel manufacturing processes in 1-5ms while actual operations take 50-500ms. Through predictive haptics & aerospace algorithms, remote manufacturing feels like direct contact. Just invented & released into public domain by Unpatentable's AI team.

We've spent quite a bit of time in recent trauma survivors showing that structural covariance of ventral and early visual regions are predictive of acute PTSD symptoms, and perhaps changes in this covariance underlies the maintenance of chronic PTSD symptoms. 2/

The baby tracking app we used allowed us to add a note when logging sleep, feedings, diaper changes, etc., and I used that opportunity to christen every poop for the first 1.5 years of our son’s life with a clever name. Needless to say, predictive text now has some wild datapoints.

Do Real Things
Our brain is predictive. It adjusts to its environment. If you feed it social media, news, and entertainment all day every day it starts to use that information to predict how to respond to the world.
Doing real things in the real world is your reset.

I think we fans don’t understand the impact modern analytics has on the game. With all the film teams have access to, it’s got to be pretty easy to come up with predictive models that say “in 3rd and 3 situations, the Eagles tend to run x, y or z”.
