i'm not tinkering with my linux much anymore (especially with DE; decided openbox is the way to go for me) so i think i'm going to declare that i'm officially ready for it
but there's still one big thing i haven't tried out yet:

Ha-ha-ha-ha… Just kidding — I used to be an avid WindowMaker user, but at some point it was barely maintained and most of those who didn't pick up the rest of GNUstep have switched to the likes of blackbox/openbox/fluxbox, myself included.

moved back to Plasma after spending time back in Openbox. I do love Openbox but I gotta admit, there's something so nice about having simple desktop effects.
also Plasma is far less janky than it has been in the past, which is nice.

This year @hylian.bsky.social ditched his aging Macbook and Cinema Display for a refurbished/openbox 2018 Mac Mini and a new 32" curved Dell Monitor for about $250 each.
I didn't think I'd like curved displays but hot damn is it sharp and vivid and has been great for Ian.

There was also the really really long time I spent with an awkwardly cobbled together lightweight openbox setup, that I eventually gave up on because it just was no longer maintainable and kept giving me problems.
So I gave up and switched to KDE... And don't regret doing so.

I love openbox because it is so lightweight. I like to add nitrogen wallpaper app, xfce4-panel, lxterminal, and the apps I like.
