Our regulator is not fit for purpose and is going to allow the public to foot the bill for decades of theft by private water companies by recommending sky-high bills for customers.

Starmer is going to let this happen.

Not only do we want to hold 'failed' Ministers to account, we want to see arrests & prosecutions for the blatant corruption and criminal negligence.

England water regulator OFWAT to be abolished.

Rearranging the deckchairs alone won't do.

Must bring water into public ownership.

Need employee & customer elected directors on company boards; workers/customers must have right to vote on exec pay.

Must hold failed Ministers to account.

Clear example of how #OfwatIsCorrupt and why we should #Renationalise water now 👇
The "revolving door".
Most water companies have senior staff that were previously working at Ofwat (or Ofgem).
Case in point: ex-Ofwat CEO, Cathryn Ross, now on the board at Thames Water.

Let's be honest, #OfwatIsCorrupt and is not fit for purpose (likewise #OfgemIsCorrupt).

However, this is not the answer - the answer is #Renationalise.

It has never been ft for purpose. OFWAT is too close to the industry. Its former CEO Cathryn Ross is a director at Thames Water. Around 27 former Ofwat directors, managers and consultants went on to work for water companies.

Revolving doors create conflict of interests.

And the regulators were/are a joke.

The revolving door was immediately established.

Ofgem is not fit for purpose - just like Ofwat it is totally corrupt and no more than a revolving door between the regulator and the huge profit-taking corporations draining public money out of what should be national public services.

They should not be lenient over fines and penalties, they should be sending these criminal execs to JAIL.

But they won't, of course, because #OfwatIsCorrupt.
Thames Water boss tells regulator to be lenient over fines/penalties.

TW has abused customers since 1989. Despite 187 criminal convictions, it dumps sewage , borrows money to pay dividends, neglects investment.

Directors must be fined and prosecuted.

Nationalise water.

Water is an essential resource and a public necessity.

Decisions about water management and pricing are too important to leave to an unaccountable and seemingly increasingly partisan regulator.

The government must put public, not-for-profit ownership on the table.

No water company bosses would've had their bonus banned last year under these criteria.

The government's new 'regulations' are more watered down than the industry itself.

This pathetic pat on the wrist in lieu of proper regulation is what we're getting right across the board from our corrupt excuse for a regulator, Ofwat.

AW already has 128 criminal convictions. Allowed to operate, fleece customers, dump sewage, neglect investment, pay dividends and exec bonuses.
