#OSMF
Here's a crazy thing I just noticed. Vite currently has 52 sponsors on GitHub. WiX has 99.

Not an apples-apples comparison, but I never imagined my (insignificant) setup dev tool could be in the ballpark of a (wildly successful) JS dev tool.

Yes, it's because of the OSMF.

El servei de tessel·les vectorials amb dades OSM ja s'executa en producció a les màquines de la OSMF i es pot utilitzar per a tota mena de projectes, sense abusar-ne

Clinical Signs Predict Prognosis in Oral Cancer
In a groundbreaking study published recently in BMC Cancer, researchers have unveiled pivotal distinctions in the clinical presentation and prognosis of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) cases associated with oral submucous fibrosis (OSMF). This research reveals that OSCC linked with OSMF manifests unique pathological and clinical characteristics compared to OSCC cases not associated with this chronic condition, offering promising insights for earlier diagnosis and improved patient outcomes.

To my horror, I see I haven't answered the "What will you do to encourage more women leaders in OSM working groups and governance?" #OSMF board election question. Involuntary oversight - but I deserve the righteous roasting I'll get about...

I dream that if the OSMF (or something like it) catches on that it'll be common for consumers to pay for maintenance so there won't be education. Instead, the question will be "Where do we pay for maintenance?"

Will it happen? I don't know. But they also told me I'd never release OSS from MSFT. :)

> (for instance in form of preventing people from building their own releases)

The OSMF doesn't do that. It's still OSS. You can do whatever you want with the code.

An important part of the OSMF (that possibly needs to be clarified even more) is that the Software (aka: source code) follows the Open Source LICENSE and the Project (aka: issues, discussions, releases) required the Maintenance Fee (trying to be captured in the EULA.txt).

I don't understand what "put this clause in your license agreements" means. There should be no changes to the Open Source LICENSE file that describes the Software. The EULA should only be used to require the OSMF for use of binaries built from the source code. I am missing your argument here.

A big difference is that of the budget difference between OSMF and WMF, it do however only matter if the right things are prioritized.

#osmf mailing list going nuclear today. Steve Coast has a, possibly unique, ability to trigger people even when he makes a reasonable point

Yeah, I was curious how that was going to go for you. Consumers that are only there because your OSS project costs $0 are (almost always) the worst community participants.

The OSMF may have started filtering some of those out of my community. Still a little early to tell for sure.

That's a fine way to do it, but for ongoing maintenance I think you'll put the tip jar out often.

I've found that companies (and the OSMF is about revenue-generating entities, not OSS devs) won't pay for altruism. But if you put a EULA in front of them, they know what to do. :)

Ahh, very cool. We took the same approach at @firegiant.com. We pay each project we use, that takes sponsorships, like they require an OSMF.

Same ecosystems too: NuGet and NPM.

Both the OSMF and the Data Working Group reached out to Mozilla to point out they were in breach of OSM guidelines. Mozilla has taken down their demo for now.
