Happy Halloween from the MLIS Program! Our students had a great time at SGO’s Escape Room Social, where we successfully completed two escape rooms. This was the perfect event to put us in the mood for the spooky season! 🎃

mine was daisy kutter and the last train by kazu. I was doing an internship for my mlis and a coworker came over with this article for me about comics in libraries (this was in...2005?) and said "hey you like drawing, check this out" and the way they described daisy kutter just
"This was the book that started it for me."

Aww that is very kind. I have an MLIS and have been working on online retail taxonomies for the last twenty years. My real skill is translating between business and technology and helping people navigate systems.

The downside of having a Master's degree in stalking people on the internet (MLIS) is that when a friend disables their account in one place it is entirely too easy to use collected breadcrumbs to find them someplace else to check in.

Saw a woman on library Reddit saying she’s going for her MLIS and wants to know how to deal with a patron who annoys her while playing a game on the computer. She seems annoyed the point of rage, and I’m thinking…this is probably the least annoying thing possible in a library lol

It took me 9 years to get a FT job that had decent benes and paid well. Not what I was promised when I started my MLIS, that's for sure.

Ooh! I have a paper from my first MLIS class this past summer on how hybrid degrees affect theological libraries. Maybe I need to partner with someone and get the survey data collected so I can throw it y’all’s way!

I’ve had classes I didn’t like or was frustrated with in my MLIS program before but I think this semester is the first time that I feel actively insulted by both the content and the professor’s total ineptness in running an online class

This is terrible, we are desperately going to need our libraries in this age of information system collapse.
They are already so poorly paid too. They require an MLIS, and a masters degree in another discipline, and 1 or 2 other languages. All for a salary not much more than an admin assistant.
