#LogFiles
Every windows update for the last 3 updates has broken my laptop.

Wtaf Microsoft?

I should be safely able to update my machine without you blue screening it or apparently breaking it entirely today. I really do not have the capacity to deal with this shit.

Checked both logfiles. To the best of my ability to determine, no anomalies. I can upload the logfiles if you want to double-check, but I don't at all expect you to because you have a life.

I’m logging all variables so I’ll review those ones in the two logfiles I have so far

After spending way too much time hunting logfiles trying to figure out why Kodi stopped working I have come to the conclusion that it is the remote that no longer works 🤷‍♂️

also do you have a portable OS that could allow you to access your files? a look at %windir%\System32\LogFiles\Srt\Srttrail.txt would be nice

silly, but i loved adding it to the top of the console/logfiles 😄

Amazing what workarounds we have to find for the lack of 'referrer' data in logfiles these days...

I’ve wondered what some of the lesser documented critical thoughts were re Caesar and Napoleon, say, and if they match up with our current pathetic situation? no logfiles from then🫤

Were there non- trivial numbers of people calling those autocrats ‘clowns’ and did they survive to tell the tale?

systemd seems to me like making things overcomplicated for the sake of making things overcomplicated. I was doing something recently and thought "What the hell was wrong with putting text logfiles in /var/log/$whatever so you know where to find them?"

I dislike apps that don't tell you exactly what they're doing and bury their operations in logfiles that rotate / roll off. npm behaves this way. Even installing globally logs the actions in the current user's ~/.npm/_logs rather than a system log? And it doesn't cooperate nicely with slacktrack...

unless you have a very specific defrag tool that will move otherwise unmovable windows files during boot (windows\installer, hiberfil.sys, pagefile.sys, swapfile.sys, a tiny bit of system32\logfiles\WMI\RtBackup, and a fuckign... C:\$Bitmap whateve the fuck that is)

then yes please that one please

I keep thinking back to the story about getting a shell by abusing somebody doing tail -f on their logfiles. Really wonder why nobody listened to the security people who saw stuff like this coming.
