LBL shutting down is really crappy news. I’d only been to the event a handful of times and I was only just starting to really be able to take my head out of self-conscious mode.

This is devastating news, but don’t despair.
LBL was one of the first events I ever went to, almost exactly 10 years ago. It’s had to close down before, much like many other events across the UK, and it will happen again.
The Pride (organisers) are fucking fighters - they will come back stronger 💜

I used the soothing Lombardy pictures to tally up all the dates of FW and LBL from 1936 onwards (FW's first year). I found one contested date, most sources say 1938 LBL was on 11 May but they may all have copied it from Mémoire-d-C. If 11 is right, it was the only year that LBL was on a Wednesday!

If anyone tries to tell you that Rookie of the Year or Sandlot are better movies, they are cops. LBL is the best kid-centric baseball movie by a mile, and it's not even that close.
