“It's the art of statesmanship to tell lies but they must be plausible lies.” - J.M. Keynes
Julkisen talouden episteeminen tasapaino?

I think Keynes would be disappointed in us.

Alas, it seems Prof. Samuelson invented this circa 1970 or 1978 as a paraphrase of Keynes. But Samuelson is certainly adequate authority.

This quote sums up why @jeromyyyc.bsky.social got my vote for YYC mayor yesterday.
We have too many rigidly ideological people in politics today; glad to reward someone demonstrating the ability to change. Now, to see it!
(Doesn’t hurt that he referenced a John Maynard Keynes quote too!)

Chiltern Railways has conceded that East West Rail services from Oxford to Milton Keynes are unlikely to start this year, after troubles were first reported by the Clarion. A statement that “we are confident that trains will be running this year” has been quietly removed from their website.

Keynes was the father of Keynesian Economics, a theory that advocates for governments intervening to stabilize the economy, especially during times of economic downturn.

For #MKMonday this week we thought we'd share this classic Milton Keynes photo! Here's the artist Liz Leyh posing with her iconic concrete cows back in 1978.

That was a long couple of days. Milton Keynes (I know), two days at a conference. Lots and lots of people, certainly the most people I've been around in close proximity for a long time. Very, very stressful. Glad to get back to solitude but I really need to be able to do that more.

L'inflation officielle en russie est de ~8%
En réel, 24%.

Funnily enough, while Adam Smith (aka Mr Invisible Hand), would have mostly opposed Keynesian Economics, he would have agreed with Keynes that government intervention to create public infrastructure was actually good.
