I’d say keep it totally separate. IMO a Leaflet user should be able to use the experience without even knowing what Bluesky is (outside of auth, perhaps). Maybe let people opt in to some interop eventually(?)

Interop to me feels so fundamental to why ActivityPub and then ATProto exist at all - interop as a theory of change for defeating big tech monopolies by breaking down walled gardens that trap users. Getting it right in UX is tricky but seems a bit shortsighted to say people don’t want that choice?

I think better interop and discovery of conversations on Bluesky would be good like @erlend.sh says, but I would caution against relying on that entirely. A world could soon exist where *Leaflet users* don’t want their comments appearing on Bluesky, an app they don’t use.

yeeeaaah that probably would have been its own mess though; imo the biggest impediment to interop is data semantics; blobs aren't the worst to deal with if you have things to parse them with

Thinking about Alternate Representations again. Global aliases rely on app impls on doing the transformation, completely doesnt work on apps that dont want to interop / do the work. Pre baked alternates ie one post is duplicated across many lexicons at creation is wasteful but works by default

I feel like Bluesky could consume the `community.lexicon.interaction.like` that @ngerakines.me built here. It’d be great to see Bluesky interop with the rest of the community too.
