I would also add that in nearby Mali a full on military government, allied with Wagner and observing roughly 0 rules of war, has utterly failed to put down an Islamist insurgency. We are not going to find a ‘shock & awe’ solution to the problem

I’m staggered by how heavily armed these goons are against a non-violent public. I served on counter-insurgency operations (with bombs and bullets as it were) with less armament! This is as much about projection of image. It’s like biggest dick contest. Pathetic.
