I came to a point where I had an internal argument over whether the Dems actually wanted the things I wanted and were incompetent, or whether they were lying about wanting the things I wanted and were in fact quite effectively pursuing their own agenda while abusing my naive trust.

They don't correlate directly to victory during presidential election years.
