See I do like romance the only gripe I have with romance is that my standards are so sky high right now bc of that genre 😝 and with weird books that’s me all over especially after reading MDV I had to read IWHNKM right after to refresh my brain cells !!

That's a great point! I wonder, though, about the dawning understanding that even those "in power" in IWHNKM are actually pawns and as powerless as herself and the commentary on humanity as a whole, especially in connection with Stranger or Macbeth.

💙📚 1/75 Was struggling to get started with books this year.
My pal had just finished IWHNKM, and made me realise how little I remember of it! So glad I re-read it again as not only did it remind me what a great book it is, but have come away with a bunch of different thoughts/ theories…

I think what the stranger has is upwards and downwards changes in power for Meursalt throughout the novel whereas the main character in I who have never known men starts out completely powerless.

IWHNKM doesn’t allow for a discussion for what role society plays in what power one has, IMO

Had a very IWHNKM coded dream last night, which is unusual for me (to have a dream that mimics something I read/watched in a very literal way, and so quickly after reading/watching it) and yeah....it's definitely one to keep chewing on for a while.

- NGL the atmospherians was a bit of a letdown. It was an interesting concept that wasnt executed well.
- Cobalt Red was so well written, informative, and emotional to read.
- IWHNKM definitely left me with questions to sit with around humanity/connection/vulnerability I hadnt considered
