This week is NBAA, the biggest #BizAv conference of the year. I don't attend, but I typically write about some of the IFC stories coming from it.

This year a supplier is pitching that "AI allocates dedicated cognitive bandwidth for LLM interactions" on it service. And I just can't.

United issued a press release this morning confirming that UA2940/15OCT will be the first mainline Starlink flight.

Also says 2940 represents the total number of Starlink antennae to be installed, covering 1200+ mainline and 400+ RJs.

I was not invited on United's upcoming first mainline flight with Starlink service, to be operated on a 737-800. But based on some details I've gathered, expect it to be UA2940/15OCT flying EWR-IAH. That's the only 738 planned on the route all week.

No guarantees, but...

United confirms the first 737-800 now has the Starlink kit installed. First pax flight expected on 15 October ex-EWR.

It has a double panel configuration, just like other mainline installs.

Chalk up another #IFEC win for Starlink. WestJet will use the service on its fleet of 737s by the end of 2025, and the widebodies will follow in 2026.

Free to passengers, with Telus as a sponsor helping to offset WestJet's costs (similar to the AC/Bell Canada arrangement).

Sergio Aguirre is retiring as President and COO at Gogo. He will leave the role at the end of the year, but continue as a consultant on the SD buyout through mid-2025. And still get paid for another year salary after that.

With AA joining the free Wi-Fi movement in 2026 I did some quick math. By my take the North American market will soon have ~4,000 planes flying across eight airlines (AA, AC, B6, DL, HA, PD, UA, WS) with complimentary access on board. 🤯
