At #IATAAGM, DG Willie Walsh warned about a worrying trend observed lately on social media during aircraft evacuations:

🗣️ ‘Seeing people evacuate with luggage is deeply worrying. When told to evacuate, leave everything behind; nothing is more important than your life.’”

Arguably the biggest partnership at #IATAAGM this year was DL/AF/KL/VS joining with IndiGo (6E). It is particularly interesting to me because IndiGo has used TK77Ws to IST via wetlease to feed USA/Europe. That goes away soon owing to politics (Turkiye supported Pakistan in the recent Kashmir mess).

I briefly spoke with Alaska CEO Ben Minicucci at the #IATAAGM and, when asked about the choice of Rome — rather than Oneworld's London hub or Paris — he cited the fact that Rome is one of the largest unserved markets from Seattle.

The lack of competition can be a BIG enticement for an airline.

@iata.org expects 2025 SAF volume of 2.5 million tonnes (2.5bn liters) industry-wide, 0.7% of global total.

Industry is mad about paying for it, arguing "compliance fees" cost more than the SAFs in Europe, and that the money should be used to buy extra SAF, which does not exist. 🤔
