It’s been over two years since Netflix last tossed us a season of The Witcher, and it didn’t leave things on a confident note. The show had once been one of the brightest shining stars in the streamer’s lineup, but then multiple things happened: fans found the new season lackluster on several levels, the animated spinoffs didn’t gain traction, and most damaging of all, Henry Cavill left the show. The announcement came before the release of Season 3, and Netflix had to run a campaign that said “Yes, Cavill is still the lead” to avoid any dips in ratings (didn’t help). How can you have The Witcher without The Witcher? All depends upon whether replacement Liam Hemsworth can sell the same swagger.
