How is perceptual hashing not a form of AI?
I understand that recently, the phrase "AI" has mainly been used to refer to neural network systems. However,
1. I don't necessarily agree with that definition of AI, and
2. Looking it up, the perceptual hashing system Apple uses is called NeuralHash

its much more accurate than calculating perceptual hashing is is resistant to stuff like filters (some of the images are edited or have meme text on them, etc.)

The number of images we were tracking was small so this isn’t likely super scalable if you’re tracking millions of images (on your end, the stored hashes of memes you’re checking for), but essentially I pulled all stored hashing and used a BK tree to find all matches within a given hamming distance

Hmm, maybe some kind of system that uses text filters (cheaper) for potentially but not necessarily problematic content to tag a user as higher risk and then use the perceptual hashing on just a subset of users?
