Starter for AS level class before moving on to transformations of graphs. Sketch a quadratic and mark its turning points. Extension: are all quadratics a translation of y = x²? It made a nice discussion which led us nicely into why f(x *+* 3) is a translation by (3 0), to the *left*.

1) Yes, they're making a claim about the differences in two widely-different sample sets without applying any methods to see if those differences are actually statistically significant (tbh, I don't know if they're capable of applying those methods, because I only recall seeing graphs)

Reversal curse and (a)symmetric knowledge. The reversal curse [15, 9] is a well-known out-of-distribution, in-weights failure mode of next-token-trained Transformers. Such models are unable to recall u given v, when trained to recall v given u, suggesting asymmetric storage in parametric memory. Fixes for the reversal curse have involved reversed or permuted data augmentation [57, 91, 79, 501. In our settings, we find that reverse edges are critical to elicit implicit reasoning in our path-star tasks (see §D.L), but is not necessary to elicit a geometry in the smaller graphs.' Various theories have been proposed to understand this failure [87, 183, 157], which may be worth revisiting under a geometric view. One may also view our contrast between associative and geometric memory (of a generic graph data) as a generalization of the aforementioned contrast between the asymmetric and symmetric knowledge storage (of a more specific, disjoint set of associations). idk how many ppl like me, but i couldnt afford cable/internet when i moved, so i ran everything thru my phone. smartphones have all the power you need to read news, do a few graphs, watch video/music as long as you get a real size keyboard/mouse. now that i prob could afford internet, i dont bother
