#Gardaí
A real test for politicians and gardaí.

There's been a years-long campaign of arson/attempted arson at IPAS centres - even buildings rumoured to be considered for asylum seekers.

We've had far-right instigated riots in our capital, at CityWest and Coolock; arson at TD's property... (1/2)

All very well. But the gardai need to reflect on their own failed approach to policing anti-immigration events too.
🚨Garda warning:

"Harris's comments were
supported by the Taoiseach
and Paschal Donohoe, the
finance minister.

However, senior gardai are understood to be concerned by the
rhetoric coming from the
government on immigration
because of the challenges in
policing rising tensions over
the issue."

Bad enough the Gardaí gave free run to the far right for years.

Bad enough arson against immigrant centres became standard practice for racists.

Bad enough we've already had race riots.

The Taoiseach & Táinaiste poured petrol on all the above during the week, & we shouldn't be shy in saying it.

The 1st arson attack was Moville 7 years ago. Everything fash have done since was warned about. Instead of stamping on it govt pandered to them, pundits claimed they don't exist and Gardaí escorted them into libraries.

Ministers were complaining about migrants on TV immediately prior to this attack
I condemn in the strongest terms the deeply disturbing incident at the IPAS centre in Drogheda. To put vulnerable families, including young children, at risk is abhorrent and has no place in our society.

Our thoughts are with those affected by this horrifying experience.

To be fair, Gardaí said last night that the initial word was fireworks — but updated statement last night on their investigations over the course of yesterday indicated that the fire was started as shown.

Will pursue

Charles should now use his influence to get Police, MI5 & Gardai to release any information they have which would help bring justice to Mountbatten's victims.

It's just words, Charlie, isn't it?

The Green Party has accused the Government of “ignoring far-right violence and threats” following a suspected arson attack at an international protection building housing families in Drogheda.

Gardaí now believe petrol was used to start the fire at the building.

The attack in Drogheda is shocking, but not surprising. This government ignoring right wing violence has led us here, and without meaningful response will only lead to deaths

Hopefully the minister, & the new head of the Gardaí, recognise this for what it is - domestic terrorism.

We need a significant crack down on the far right thugs who have gotten away with all manner of crimes with complete impunity. One of De Valera’s achievements was banning the BlueShirts.

Literally 2 days ago you said Ireland shouldn't rule out deporting migrants. I hope you have the self awareness to reflect on this and consider your words carefully in future. I hope the Gardaí will also change their approach to the far right in response to this

Also it's been over a week and there's been fuck all said or done about Cllr Phil Sutcliffe facing action for his "ethnically cleanse all Roma vermin" post.

Why?
The Gardaí and Dublin council have questions to answer on this.

The attack could have been prevented altogether if the Gardaí would get up off their arses and do something about the openly stated threats of violence issued by the far right in Ireland on the regular. They know exactly who these people are.
