Henry and Alex go to the same University and after a karaoke night, a very drunk Henry has to call Pez and dump all of his feelings for Alex on him. Problem is Pez wasn't his most recently dialled number.

Summary:
He's still trying to get it right. It's a work-in-progress at the best of times because all of their examples of siblinghood come from either other family members or media and neither of those are spectacular.
He thinks he's failed when Bea needs to be admitted to rehab, when she checks herself out. He has no idea what makes her want to try enough to check back in, but he's thankful.
And then he sees the family calendar—Dad's insistence when they started getting busier as teens—and sees that Henry's scheduled for a meeting with Gran the next morning. Just Henry.
Christ, of all the family he's failed, he feels like he fails Henry the most. He never quite knows how to connect, how to interact, how to be a good brother to him.

Henry sighs. “Can’t help it,” he says, turning his wrist so he can interlace their fingers. “Even the idea of being late to public engagements – ”
“Makes you twitchy,” Alex agrees. He places his free hand on Henry’s shoulder, rubbing it softly. “How can I help?”
(Alex and Henry are stuck in traffic en route to an event. Alex helps Henry get over some anxiety with his lack of a gag reflex. That’s it. That’s the fic.)

Inspiration from @shitsidrew on Twitter
As he gets to the second floor, he can hear the soft murmur of Henry’s voice; though he’s unable to make out the individual words, there’s a rhythm that he recognizes. Henry is telling their daughter a bedtime story. Alex follows the sound down the shadowy hallway, his steps silent as he makes his way to their daughter’s room.
The door is slightly ajar, and Henry’s voice becomes clearer as Alex gets closer. “...sent the wild things off to bed without their supper. And Max the king of all wild things was lonely and wanted to be where someone loved him best of all.”
Alex pushes the door open slowly and meets Henry’s blue-eyed gaze and warm smile. Henry pauses in his reading, putting a finger to his lips, and Alex looks over to see their daughter tucked tightly under her blankets, her eyes slowly drooping and her dark eyelashes fluttering against her cheeks.
