I had a great visit to @longbranchva.bsky.social! Mrs. Cook’s first graders and our Teacher of the Year are incredible. Loved their questions about my journey to Supt. I had the chance to join Taylor Elementary in Ninja Nation! I joined the challenge and connected with students, parents and staff. Students also designed their own courses in STEAM class. Thanks to PE teacher Eric Bowers for the idea. A great way to end the week! #OneTeamOneAPS #EveryAPSstudent

My last school visit for spring was to Innovation. I met with fifth graders to hear about their favorite parts of school, what they’ve learned this year and what they’re most excited about in middle school. I had a wonderful time exploring classrooms at Arlington Science Focus School today! I visited Ms. McGhee’s first-grade class and Mr. B and Ms. Ellis’s fifth-grade science class. I enjoyed seeing curiosity, creativity and discovery in action! #OneTeamOneAPS #EveryAPSstudent

At Williamsburg today, I attended a literacy class and had the chance to invest in 6th grade invention pitches! Students read about inventions and wrote their own, then learned to present them. I also observed Spanish language instruction and met with teachers. #OneTeamOneAPS #EveryAPSstudent

My second school visit this spring is to Oakridge Elementary. I visited several classrooms to see learning in action. I also stopped by to talk to the librarian, Ms. Price, who told me about the Scibary Lab. It's one of the largest circulation of books at APS. #OneTeamOneAPS #EveryAPSstudent
