Really pleased to see this gorgeous PALLAS'S WARBLER at The Naze this morning. Always on the move and feeding actively. Great to catch up with lots of local birders too! #essexbirding #birds #birding #BirdsSeenIn2025 #RareBirdsUK

Spent a couple of mornings at The Naze over the last few days! No sign of Little Auks but did manage Pallas’s Warbler, Yellow-browed Warbler (heard), Firecrest, Arctic Terns, RTDivers, Common Scoters, Gannet, and plenty of common shorebirds. #Birding #EssexBirding

Birding was rather quiet at Holland Haven with Alf Mullins today, then a busy hour spent trying to photograph Firecrests, at least 3 of which were near entrance. Also Peregrine and late Clouded Yellow. Thanks to @yellowshriker.bsky.social for tip-off

A Swift species Common/ Pallid was feeding back and forth over the junction of Warren lane and Maldon road Colchester at 11:00 this morning. I was on the way back from the shops with the kids and had no optics ! I alerted the local birders and wizzed home and back but no sign of it. #essexbirding

#Abberton #EWT walking back to centre, saw a flock of small birds, mostly blue tits and long-tailed tits, then I saw the goldcrests just feeding all around me, magical. Wouldn't say they came close but this photo was taken with my phone! #essexBirding

Visited Beacon Hill Fort, Harwich, where a Yellow-browed Warbler called 3 times in 2 hrs amongst large tit flock but frustratingly, refused to show itself. Also Cetti’s in same area and this war-weary Speckled Wood.
Fort itself is well worth a visit

Nice 🚲 around area this morning in lovely sunshine. A few Rooks in concert, the odd Robin singing but not much else. Realized that I have missed Spotted Flycatchers completely this year, none around us that I know of, first time in a dozen years I reckon. #essexbirding

Abberton Res is quiet at the moment, could do with the water level rising a bit as it's all a bit dry. However, the aythya flocks kept me entertained today & found at least 7 Scaup amongst the Tufteds, plus a ringed Tufted & a good hybrid. Little Stint was best of the rest #essexbirding

A few more Meadow Pipits joining the flock today at Weald CP, at least 6 Shoveler and a Little Grebe on the lakes.
One of the BHG had a leg ring but only a single metal one I can barely read.

Drew a blank while searching suitable woodland sites in Colchester area that might reveal some of the crossbills that keep teasing with their intermittent flyovers.
Followed this with a brief visit to Abberton Res.
